DIA security officers demonstrate DIA’s commitment to protecting the Agency’s people, information, facilities, operations, and classified and sensitive information while executing its global national security mission. As a civilian officer, you will take on challenging assignments and serve your country by performing a variety of security, countermeasure, investigative and law enforcement services. DIA security officers apply a range of professional training and functional expertise to make difficult decisions that affect the security of the Agency. Officers in Insider Threat develop, implement and coordinate activities designed to deter, detect and mitigate insider threats. They monitor, evaluate and analyze information systems and other data feeds to detect potential insider threats and provide advice and guidance for threat mitigation. They additionally formulate policies and guidance based on assessment of requirements not addressed in existing security directives and operations; manage, coordinate and track individual insider threat cases from identification to mitigation; promote awareness of security issues among management and the workforce; and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organization’s vision and goals.
Police officers perform law enforcement and force protection activities as part of an organized and uniformed police force. They engage in various protective functions to include providing canine services, hazardous materials response activities, antiterrorism assessments, protective security details, special response teams, and global specialized protective operations in support of DIA field operations.
Security specialists apply broad knowledge and experience in multiple security disciplines (e.g., Personnel, Information, Physical, Industrial, Information Systems, Classification Management, Operations Security and Special Access Programs) to develop, enforce, analyze and interpret security policies and procedures. They identify program requirements, conduct surveys, perform inspections, conduct trend analyses and offer security advice and guidance.
